Family means a lot to me, and I’ve learned that the genuine care and solidarity that comes with family is indispensable. I grew up in a union family.

This year Delta management once again communicated unilateral and universal changes to our healthcare coverage. It’s a stark reminder that without a union, Ed Bastian and management can take away benefits or shift costs to us without even any discussion.

Our positive space commuting is ending today at the sole discretion of management. Without a union, this is what we face as Delta Flight Attendants. Management can change any procedures on a whim, without our input.

I was hired to be based in Honolulu with Northwest Airlines in November of 1991. I was one of the lucky ones to say that I was “born and raised and based in Honolulu.”

I came to Delta from Northwest in the merger.

At Northwest, we had a union contract and the protections that come with it. Our work rules were in black and white. We knew what our rights were, and management knew we’d fight if they broke the rules.

I’ve flown with Delta for 25 years.

When the Northwest Flight Attendants joined our ranks, I was impressed by the culture they brought, and the protections the union contract gave them. When we had a chance to vote for a union in 2010, I voted yes.
