Delta Policy vs. United AFA Contract

United AFA Flight Attendants just ratified their new contract by 82%.

Union Flight Attendants continue to raise the bar for us at Delta. And while Delta management tries to keep up with base pay rates, there’s hidden costs for us without a union contract. United Flight Attendants will receive a massive pay raise on May 31st and then another raise at the end of July. This will top them out ahead of our June 1 raises. In addition, they negotiated $741 million in retroactive pay.

In addition to Boarding Pay, one of the major provisions in this new contract is Sit Pay for scheduled and rescheduled sits over 2.5 hours (incentive to decrease long, unpaid sits). American and Alaska Flight Attendants also have this in their contracts too. At Delta, we don't have sit pay and we have to wait much longer to get a hotel room on a long sit (over 6 hours to ask vs. United’s 4 guaranteed).

Here are some major areas where United AFA outpaces us at Delta. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

Delta v. United Comparison

United’s provisions are locked in with a legally enforceable contract that management cannot change. At Delta, we’re subject to the whim of management’s complete control over our work lives and benefits.

With a union contract, we can negotiate a pay increase that works for us!

We can put in writing pay rates that are applied with scheduling protections, incentives, and benefits that are guaranteed
every year.
