Is Delta hiding predators?

Imagine this. You’re in the final days of new-hire training. It’s graduation and it’s time for your uniform inspection. As the inspector comes down the line, he puts his hands down your pants, then up your shirt.
Aryasp Nejat doesn’t have to imagine it. And at least one other new hire in his class says the same inspector touched him inappropriately, too.

But instead of a serious investigation of the alleged harassment, Delta management turned against Aryasp. After he posted pro-union messages on social media, Delta suspended Aryasp without explanation—and then fired him.
Maybe it’s a coincidence, but the predator Delta appears to be protecting is also the One Delta representative who was sent into the training center to spread anti-union propaganda.

With legal support, including from AFA’s legal team, Aryasp was able to secure a settlement from Delta.
Now he’s able to pursue his dreams of attending law school, and he’s employed at an AFA-represented carrier where he’s active in his union. But he should never have been put in this position in the first place.

This is a clear example of Delta’s union busting. It’s also a clear example that Delta cares more about fighting our union drive than it does about keeping Flight Attendants safe from managers who exploit and harm employees.
We’re organizing to have a voice and protections in the workplace.
Thanks to Aryasp’s courage, other Delta Flight Attendants have come forward with complaints about the same manager. AFA has independent information on the internal investigation, and is actively following to make sure Delta management doesn’t just sweep this under the rug.

One thing is clear: Delta won’t do the right thing unless it’s forced to. That’s why we need a union contract.
With a union, we will have tools to hold management accountable if they do harm our flying partners, and the power of collective action to stop harassment and abuse.
Our campaign is making real progress. Let’s make sure we get across the finish line and secure a contract that makes Delta the best workplace it can be.
