1 hour short of override pay

The May bid packet is out and once again, Delta management has demonstrated complete control over our schedule values and our ability to earn override pay.

The most recent Ops Update reads in part: “Schedule value will remain at 82 hours, the same as April.” Management also clarified that they “heard our complaints” about the override not being triggered last month — but awarding 100% of PPT was “not a consideration.” Management admitted that if they had just given everyone 100% of PPT they requested, our schedule value would have only gone up by one hour, thus triggering our monthly override.

That’s right, management could’ve given us 100% PPT, but that would’ve changed the schedule value and required them to pay us override, so they didn’t.

This isn’t the first time management has unilaterally prevented our ability to earn override pay, and it won’t be the last. Just last month they kept the schedule value at 82 hours for April. And last summer, management unilaterally removed our incentive program. Pay enhancements that management never intends to let us access are nothing more than lip service.

We need an override program that we control, like Union Flight Attendants do at Spirit, United, and Alaska. Here are just a few examples of what we could lock in with our contract:

These incentive programs are active year-round and not tied to any particular month or average schedule value. We deserve protections for low-time and high-time months, and the only way to get that is through a legally binding contract.

Sign your card and get involved so we can negotiate override/overtime in our control!
