The Truth: Commuter Policy

Delta Flight Attendants lose out on parking benefits and compensation, even if they live in their base city, drive from a neighboring city, or commute by air.

Parking is only covered at a Flight Attendant’s base, and they are forced to cover the expense at other company stations and commuter cities. This is not industry standard.

Delta Management’s decision-making is driven by their efforts to save money for the company, even if it means treating Flight Attendants at each base differently.

AFA Flight Attendants at unionized carriers have negotiated contracts that cover parking, parking expenses, and compensation.

Each AFA contract has different parking provisions reflecting what is important to Flight Attendants at that airline.

At United Airlines, Flight Attendants are provided parking at their base or any other company station, if parking is available. Commuter Flight Attendants are entitled to a $35.00/month reimbursement (up to $60 in the new TA) for parking not at their base.

At Alaska Airlines, Flight Attendants are provided with free paved and lighted parking facilities at all co-terminals. Commuter Flight Attendants can elect to have free parking at their home airport up to the cost of parking at their base airport.

In addition, Alaska Flight Attendants can decline parking and receive a flat $75 in their check for personal expenses.

At Frontier and Spirit Airlines, Flight Attendants have free parking at their base. For commuter Flight Attendants who do not live in-base, they are reimbursed up to the amount they would be paid at base.

Additionally at Frontier, if Flight Attendants decline parking, they receive a monthly flat payment of the cost of parking at the DEN airport.

We are tired of waiting for Delta management to decide when Flight Attendants deserve parking benefits and compensation.

With a union contract, we can negotiate for comprehensive parking benefits and compensation that reflect the needs of all Delta Flight Attendants.
