We're Pushing Management to Take Action to Protect Workers Following Petition

This week, another Delta Flight Attendant was subjected to harassment online when their photo was posted on social media by a passenger without consent, following two other cases of harassment against Delta Flight Attendants under similar circumstances. Despite recent actions by Delta, including adding the offending passenger to the No Fly List and pledging to update language on harassment, these measures only came after thousands of Delta Flight Attendants, through Delta AFA, demanded action. This proves what we’ve said all along: Delta Flight Attendants must unite and organize to win the changes we desperately need.

While Delta’s response to the most recent incident is a step forward, it is far from enough. Harassment of this nature will continue until Delta takes a firm and proactive stance against it. Instead, Delta management has been discouraging employees from discussing the harassment even in private online forums, and reprimanding those who speak out. This silencing only emboldens harassers and leaves all Flight Attendants—especially those from marginalized communities—vulnerable.

It is Delta’s responsibility to ensure that Flight Attendants can perform their duties safely and effectively. The ongoing online, public harassment not only targets the most vulnerable members of our workgroup but also undermines the authority and expertise of all Flight Attendants. We refuse to be silenced by management, and will not let them speak for us on matters that directly affect our lives and safety.

With the residual effects still looming from our technological meltdown that left flight crews and passengers stranded for days on end, thousands of Flight Attendants came to the realization that in times of irregular and severe operations they were left alone to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, Flight Attendants are seeing the same response of apathy, empty apologies, and no real changes in policies or procedures, despite the rise in passenger misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and hostile work environments. We are left to fend for ourselves.

We urge our flying partners and public supporters to join us in this call to action to hold Delta management accountable for their failure to protect our crews. We stand in solidarity with our fellow Flight Attendants and will continue to fight for real, enforceable protections against harassment. It is time for Delta to match its words with actions. Together, we can demand the respect and security we all deserve.
