Monica's Story - "I remember thinking, “What are they gonna change next?”
At the end of my first visibility event, I had collected nine cards for our Flight Attendant union, and sent three more home with flying partners who wanted to take one with them.
If you came through Atlanta last Monday, you might have seen me set up right next to the duty desk.
This was my first time doing a visibility table, but it won’t be my last.

The best part of my day was when we were approached by someone who was vocally against the last campaign. [My visibility partner, Melody, said she recalled seeing him holding “Vote No” signs during the previous drive.]
We talked for 30 minutes. I shared my story—why I was there and why I cared—and answered his questions. At the end of the conversation, he took a card with him.
Your reason for why you want a union might be different from mine. But until we have a Flight Attendant union at Delta, we can’t address any of our issues.
For me, it’s about having a voice on the job. When COVID hit, I took an extended PLOC, and I only just returned to the line a few months ago. I had just returned to the line when Delta announced the trial D-40, requiring earlier arrival for boarding for certain trips out of Atlanta. I remember thinking, “What are they gonna change next?”
When I started at Delta in 2011, it felt like management had a heart for the people, but some things have changed throughout the years. Changes to our pay schedule and report times. No raises to reflect higher inflation and cost of living increases, and adding more unpaid time to boarding. Now is the time.
We need our Flight Attendant union at Delta so we have a contract and a say in how our workplace is run. Join me. Sign a card, then sign up to help secure our union.
In Solidarity,

P.S. RSVP for the POWER OF THE PIN WORKSHOP
February 17 from 5:00pm-6:00pm Eastern, Click here to RSVP >
An AFA pin is more than just metal and paint. For generations, Flight Attendants and workers have worn pins to show our solidarity and our intention to stand up for our rights at work.
Delta Flight Attendants can send a powerful message to one another, to management and to the passengers we serve that we are united. Wearing an AFA pin is essential to organizing our Flight Attendant union and is a clear sign that we’ve got each other's back.
In this workshop, we will discuss the value of wearing your AFA pin proudly, the importance of public support and why both are crucial to building a strong union. We'll all have a chance to practice how we talk about the importance of showing public support and overcoming resistance in some union supporters to be public and wear their AFA pin.
