June 20th Action for Our Jobs, Racial & Economic Justice
COVID-19 has forced the country into an unprecedented emergency and the murder of George Floyd has propelled our nation into the streets to demand change and declare that Black Lives Matter. The AFA Executive Board unanimously passed our Black Lives matter resolution last week. People are not disposable. United Airlines cannot treat our AFA sisters and brothers at international bases as disposable by closing bases and giving people nowhere to work. This crisis cannot be put on our backs. Flight Attendants at regional airlines are not worth less - we are all aviation's first responders. Poverty shaming. Racism. Sexism. All efforts to divide people and stigmatize people is an effort to keep us from demanding our full rights as human beings, as essential workers, as people who were promised a country of, by, and for the people.
Racial justice and economic justice are interlocked. We have to take on racism, poverty and inequality to make lasting change. For too long our society has ignored the needs of 140 million people who are poor or one emergency away from being poor.
People across the nation have joined the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival to confront the interlocking evils of systemic racism, poverty, climate change and ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism.
Register today for June 20, 2020.
AFA is proud to join the Poor People’s Campaign. The Poor People's Assembly and Moral March on Washington will be an historic, generationally transformative digital event. Across the internet and the airwaves we will drive the vision and agenda of our communities into the heart of the national narrative.
History teaches us that it is exactly in moments like these that a movement of the many is necessary to force the nation into action. We’re seeing real-time change from Black Lives Matter protests. Join with us by registering for June 20, 2020 to fight for working people!
