Drive, fly, train to work? We should all be compensated

Whether you live in the city where you’re based, drive from a neighboring city, or commute by air, Delta Flight Attendants continue to lose out on parking benefits and compensation.

The truth is, Delta management treats Flight Attendants at each base differently, and continues to look for ways to save money for the company and the executives. Parking is covered only at a Delta flight attendant base, while at other company stations and commuter cities, Delta flight attendants are forced to cover the expense. This is not industry standard.

AFA Flight Attendants at unionized carriers have negotiated important contractual provisions that cover parking, parking expenses, and compensation. Each AFA contract has different parking provisions reflecting what is important to flight attendants at that airline.

Our Delta AFA contractual provision would include parking benefits and compensation that are important to us, and is democratically decided by us through a vote.

*In NYC, only select Flight Attendants currently qualify for up-to $200 in monthly reimbursement under the “LGA Ot-Out” program. However, this is a temporary measure during the “LGA Re-Imagined” project and will end after that project is completed. In addition, not all Flight Attendants qualify if you transfer in or become based in NYC after a certain date because these provisions are not in a legally binding contract.

Endeavor AFA Flight Attendant Parking

Endeavor Air is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines. At Endeavor Air, the company is responsible for providing Flight Attendants with free parking at a base or a stipend of $40 per month. Endeavor Flight Attendants are also eligible for other reimbursements as outlined in the contract for travel/commuting assistance payments.

Alaska AFA Flight Attendant Parking

At Alaska Airlines, the company is responsible for providing Flight Attendants free paved and lighted parking facilities at all co-terminals. Commuter Flight Attendants can elect to have free parking at their home airport. In addition, Flight Attendants can decline parking and receive a flat $75.00 into their check to use for their own personal expenses.

*Registered commuters whose commuter city is also a Flight Attendant domicile may elect to have parking at the commuter city. If the cost of parking there is higher than the cost of parking at their domicile, the Flight Attendant pays the difference.

United AFA Flight Attendant Parking

At United Airlines, the company is responsible for providing parking at a Flight Attendant's base or at any other company station, if parking is available. Commuter Flight Attendants are entitled to a $35.00/month reimbursement for parking not in base.

*Flight Attendants can park in more than one location, but the company will only pay for one.

Frontier AFA Flight Attendant Parking

At Frontier Airlines, the company is responsible for providing free parking to Flight Attendants at their base. Commuter Flight Attendants are reimbursed to park at their home airport up to the amount of what parking would cost at their base. For Flight Attendants who decline parking, the company is required to provide them with a monthly flat payment of the cost of parking at the DEN airport.

Spirit AFA - Flight Attendant Parking

At Spirit Airlines, the company is responsible for providing free parking for Flight Attendants at each base. For commuter Flight Attendants who do not live in-base, the company is responsible for providing them with reimbursement up to the amount of which would be paid at base.

We are tired of waiting for Delta management to decide when commuters and all Flight Attendants deserve important parking benefits and compensation. While commuting is a choice, it’s a common part of this industry. AFA Flight Attendants ensure that the company is responsible for covering parking costs at home airports.

Together, as Delta AFA, we will negotiate for comprehensive parking benefits and compensation that reflect the needs of all Delta Flight Attendants. Management has put this hidden cost on our backs.
