I was hired to be based in Honolulu with Northwest Airlines in November of 1991. I was one of the lucky ones to say that I was “born and raised and based in Honolulu.”

I came to Delta from Northwest in the merger.

At Northwest, we had a union contract and the protections that come with it. Our work rules were in black and white. We knew what our rights were, and management knew we’d fight if they broke the rules.

When the Northwest Flight Attendants joined our ranks, I was impressed by the culture they brought, and the protections the union contract gave them. When we had a chance to vote for a union in 2010, I voted yes.

Delta management never sees your card and will never know your card status.

The law that protects your right to organize and protects you from management retaliation is called the Railway Labor Act (RLA). It's your right to choose legal representation with AFA.
